NFL Picks Week 6
By Wes Whiteside
Last Weeks Record- 9 wins and 5 Loses
Key Wins Last Week- Arizona Cardinals over Buffalo Bills (41-17), Indianapolis Colts over Houston Texans (31-27) and Tennessee Titans over Baltimore Ravens (13-10).
Key Loses Last Week- Miami Dolphins over San Diego Chargers (17-10), Pittsburgh Steelers over Jacksonville Jaguars (26-21) and Minnesota Vikings over New Orleans Saints (30-27).
Last Weeks Fantasy Gems- Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinals) 2 TDs, Eli Manning (Giants) 267 yards passing and 2 TDs, and Matt Cassel (Patriots) 259 yards passing at 1TD.
Bye Teams: Buffalo Bills (3-1), Kansas City Chiefs (0-4), Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) and Tennessee Titans (4-0)
1:00 pm Games:
Baltimore Ravens (2-2) at Indianapolis Colts (2-2): The Ravens have had two heart-breaking loses the past two week. If they don’t put points on the board early they may be looking at a third heartbreaker.
COLTS by 3
Fantasy Pick: Peyton Manning QB of the Colts
Miami Dolphins (2-2) at Houston Texans (0-4): I am a huge fan of the “wildcat offense” the Phins are running in Miami. Ronnie Brown is the most underrated player in the NFL right now.
DOLPHINS by 10
Fantasy Pick: Why not Ronnie Brown RB of the Dolphins
Detroit Lions (0-4) at Minnesota Vikings (2-3): For a minute I was getting ready to write the Vikings off last week. Some how Gus Frerotte kept his offense focused and lead them to a victory. I haven’t had any luck taking the Vikings this year, but they playing the Lions. They can’t possibly lose this one, could they?
VIKINGS by 14
Fantasy Pick: Vikings Defense
Oakland Raiders (1-3) at New Orleans Saints (2-3): Raiders owner Al Davis gets to break in another head coach, Tom Cable. He is the next one to step into the fiery furnace. The heat might get turned up after a lost this week.
SANITS by 10
Fantasy Pick: Marcus Colston WR for the Saints
Cincinnati Bengals (0-4) at New York Jets (2-2): It’s a shame the Bengals have gone from one of the best teams to the one of the worst teams in a span of four years. If this season continues the way it’s going Marvin Lewis could be looking for a new estate. I got a feeling this week, things could change.
UPSET SPEACIAL BENGALS by 2
Fantasy Pick: Chad Johnson WR of the Bengals
Carolina Panthers (4-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2): If it wasn’t for three teams in the NFC East the Panthers would be considered as one of the best teams in the NFC. I’m sure quarterback Jack Delhomme is letting his players know sooner or later they will get their chance to prove they are a premier team.
PANTHERS by 3 in Overtime
Fantasy Pick: John Kasay PK of the Panthers
St. Louis Rams (0-4) at Washington Redskins (4-1): The Skins are one of my favorite teams to watch this year. Unfortunately, I won’t be watching much of this game; it should be over after the first quarter. They’re playing the Rams for goodness sakes.
REDSKINS by 21
Fantasy Pick: Santana Moss WR of the Redskins
4:00 pm Games:
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3) at Denver Broncos (4-1): If the Broncos want to make a Super Bowl run, their defense in my opinion needs to step it up. I’m sure head Coach Mike Shanahan really cares about with I think, huh?
BRONCOS by 6
Fantasy Pick: Jay Cutler QB for the Broncos
Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at Arizona Cardinals (3-2): I was having trouble picking this game. I thought maybe, just maybe, picking the Cardinals as my upset special. Then my girlfriend said, “You must be nuts, Wes”. She talked some sense into me.
COWBOYS by 14
Fantasy Pick: Marion Barber RB of the Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles (2-3) at San Francisco 49ers (2-3): Eagles quarterback Donavan McNabb said he was embarrassed with his team performance last week against the Redskins. I’m not worried, McNabb’s been here before. He’ll find a way to get his team motivated this week
EAGLES by 8
Fantasy Pick: Donavan McNabb QB for the Eagles
Green Bay Packers (2-3) at Seattle Seahawks (1-3): You can hear a little grumbling in Green Bay with the slow start of their team. The Packers only lost three total games last year and have that total already. Good things come to those who wait Packer fans. Be patient, you’re playing the Seahawks.
PACKERS by 10
Fantast Pick: Ryan Grant RB of the Packers
Sunday Night Game:
New England Patriots (3-1) at San Diego Chargers (2-3): I’m sure before the season everyone circled this game. Things haven’t been what we all expected with both these teams this year, but trust me these two teams hate each other and it will be a great game.
PATRIOTS by 3
Fantasy Pick: Wes Welker WR of the Patriots
Monday Night game:
New York Giants (4-0) at Cleveland Browns (1-3): Okay, I give the Giants props for being undefeated. Yes, they are the defending champs, but let’s look closely at their schedule. Their opponents’ record thus far is 5-12 and the Redskins have accounted for four of the five wins. After this week, their opponents will be 5-13. So before we start giving the Giants all this credit, lets wait until they actually play some competitive teams.
GIANTS by 17
Fantasy Pick: Plaxico Burress WR for the Giants
