Writer asks why former SV star...

Jim, Why did Maurice Williams choose to go to Edinboro rather than stay at Pitt? Why not stay at Pitt and get his grades up? He is an outstanding athlete and his chances of going pro were much better at Pitt than they are going to be at Edinboro. Nobody has talked much about this and I wonder if anyone has ever asked him this. -- JC

JC -- I  honestly don't know if Williams had a choice. I talked to Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt this summer and he felt that Williams was a future NFL prospect, and the year off the field would help him. Next thing I know, the ex-Colonel is at Edinboro. I will try and get a definitive answer. -- JAMES R
