Manufacturer's Association salutes...
The Gannon volleyball team is one of a record 353 teams to earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award it was announced today by the AVCA. The number smashed the previous high mark of 308 set a year ago.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Gannon was one of 39 NCAA Division II programs and one of four Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams to receive the award. The Lady Knights own a 3.53 cumulative team GPA.
Gannon has consistently performed well in the classroom and on the court. The team had a 3.66 cumulative team GPA during the 2008 spring semester. Four Lady Knights were named to the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic team during the program’s final year in the GLIAC. The program has featured five Academic All-Americans during its history.
