Edinboro University athletics will once again be “bringing its show” to Erie, PA as the athletic department has announced plans for its 9th Sports Memorabilia Auction.

Slated for Wednesday, May 25, 2011, the event will be held at the Ambassador Center at the Courtyard by Marriott and once again benefit the Fighting Scots’ 17-sport intercollegiate athletic program, as well as adaptive athletics.

The event, traditionally known to feature great autograph guests, will not disappoint area collectors again this May.  Hall of Fame running back and former Pittsburgh Steeler great Franco Harris will highlight the event to meet and greet area fans.  The silent auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by the public autograph session at 6:00 p.m.  The live auction will conclude the event from 7:30-9:00p.m.  Over 200 items will be up for bid that evening.

Tickets are scaled at $10 for admission while autograph tickets can be purchased the night of the event.  Autograph tickets will be $50 for premium items such as helmets and jerseys as well as other large items.  Flats, such as trading cards and 8 X 10 photos will cost collectors $25.  The public is encouraged to bring their own pieces as there will be a limited number of items to purchase at the event.

Each paying customer will also receive a special 18” X 24” poster of Franco Harris designed by nationally renowned artist Kevin-John Jobczynski.  Special for the event that evening, this item will be considered a flat and will cost $25 for Franco’s

signature. There will also be light hors d'oeuvres served and a cash bar available.

The live auction will once again feature numerous types of collectibles featuring an outstanding collection of pieces created by Kevin-John.  Known nationally as one of the field’s finest sports artists, Kevin-John’s items up for bid will include prints of Roberto Clemente and Hines Ward.

The previous auctions, dating back to 1995, have netted over $120,000 for the benefit of Edinboro University student-athletes.   Past guests have included Jim Kelly, Jerome Bettis, Rod Woodson, Brooks Robinson, Mel Blount, Thurman Thomas, and James Harrison.

Admission ticket requests can be made through Todd V. Jay, Associate Director of Athletics at 814 732 1835.

A partial list of items to be auctioned that evening includes:
